MADRID, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- Mexican striker Carlos Vela had a dream send off from Real Sociedad on Wednesday night before he jets off to play for Los Angeles Galaxy.
Playing his 250th and last game for the San Sebastian based side where he has spent the past six seasons, the 28-year-old Vela appeared before the fans in the Anoeta stadium with his girlfriend and child before the kick off of their Liga Santander game at home against Sevilla to receive a standing ovation.
He received another round of applause when he finally got into the action as a 78th minute substitute with Real Sociedad leading 2-1 and he then brought the house down with a 90th minute strike which sealed a 3-1 win.
It was his 54th goal and with 250 appearances for Real Sociedad, Vela is the foreign player with the second highest number of games for the club, beaten only by Darko Kovacevic.
Speaking after the game, Vela said that although he had never won an title with 'la Real' he had "gained a girlfriend and a son."
"I think tonight we are affected by destiny and everything has worked out perfectly. I didn't think it would end like this even in my dreams and when I scored, so many things went through my head... I don't think I could ask for anything more," he said speaking to the press after the game. Enditem
