TIRANA, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Albanian institutions should step up efforts to fight corruption, Bernd Borchardt, head of Organization for Security and Cooperation in European (OSCE) office in Tirana told reporters Wednesday.

"The international bodies should build instruments but it is the duty of Albanians to use them in order to yield concrete results," Borchardt said at the closing event of three-year OSCE project "For supporting the anti-corruption measures in Albania."

Head of OSCE presence here praised engagement of government representatives, civil society, business and students' community.

Borchardt also thanked the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Italian School of Public Administration, for their trust and support.

"Your insight, cooperation and involvement, have been crucial to move towards our common goal: fighting against corruption," Borchardt said.

Considering this project an anti-corruption achievement, Ambassador said that it was visible by the excellent cooperation reached between different actors representing civil society and institutions.

"We believe that your willingness to work with us in this project is strong evidence that you have decided to take action on corruption in Albania," he noted. Enditem
