ANKARA, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Police detained 10 Islamic State (IS) suspects in Turkey's central city of Eskisehir as part of counter-terrorism operations, state-run Anadolu Agency reported Wednesday.

The suspects are identified as Iraqi nationals and were detained during simultaneous raids across the city, according to security officials.

Turkish security forces have been involved in a long-running campaign to crack down IS attacks in which more than 300 people have lost their lives.

Turkey has so far arrested more than 5,000 suspected members since IS emerged as a terrorist group in Syria, and deported over 3,290 foreign fighters from 95 countries. Enditem
