Morocco condemns Houthi missile attack against Saudi Arabia

RABAT, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Morocco flatly condemned the firing on Tuesday of a ballistic missile by the Houthi militia against populated zones in Saudi capital Riyadh.

"The Kingdom of Morocco reiterated its unwavering solidarity with the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in its fight against anything that could undermine the security of its territories and disturb its populations," Morocco's foreign ministry said in a statement.

Morocco also voiced its deep concern over this dangerous escalation which further worsens the Yemeni crisis, undermines the region's stability and increases the sufferings of the brotherly Yemeni people, the statement added.

Earlier on Tuesday, Saudi Arabia accused Iran of trafficking missiles to Yemen, indicating that the missile intercepted 25 km away from Riyadh was made in Iran, Al Ekhbariyal local news channel reported.

The missile targeted a residential area south Riyadh and it was intercepted before causing any injuries or damage, the coalition spokesperson, Brigadier Turki Al Maliki, said. Enditem
