Chicago agricultural commodities open mixed

Xinhua,December 20, 2017 Adjust font size:

CHICAGO, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) agricultural commodities opened mixed in morning trading on Tuesday with corn and soybean futures falling, as a lack of fresh news and bearish technical considerations left prices at slightly lower levels.

Analysts said many traders will start preparing for the holidays and reducing their net market exposure.

January soybeans were down 0.75 cent at 9.6075 U.S. dollars per bushel as of 1535 GMT in the morning trading. March corn was down 0.75 cent at 3.4675 dollars, while March wheat was up 1.75 cents at 4.2225 dollars.

The volume of overnight CBOT trade has been slow with just over 7,000 contracts of March corn, 9,00 contracts of January soybeans, and just over 3,000 contracts of March wheat changing hands.

Weather in the U.S. Great Plains will shift into a much colder temperature profile with zero to sub zero lows expected with limited snow cover next week. December will be close to being one of the driest on record for much of the Plains. Enditem
