LOS ANGELES, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- The Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Golden State Warriors on 116-114 after extra time here at Staples Center Monday night.

The Warriors' superstar Stephen Curry sat out the game due to right ankle injury, but another superstar Kevin Durant carried the defending champion on his back with 36 points, 11 rebound and 8 assists.

The two teams tied for 9 times since from the beginning until Durant sealed the victory in the last 30 seconds with a two-point shot against defence of the Laker's future star Lonzo Ball and a block to Ball's lay-up at the other end of the court.

Including Ball, five Lakers players scored double digits, but the team struggled with poor free throws the whole night with only 21 of 33. Ball scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Enditem
