Russia to significantly increase strategic missile tests

Xinhua,December 17, 2017 Adjust font size:

MOSCOW, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Russia plans to more than double the number of strategic missile tests from five this year to 12 in 2018, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement Sunday.

The statement was released when the country's Strategic Missile Force celebrated its 58th anniversary.

The missile force, a major branch of the Russian Armed Forces, owns about 400 intercontinental ballistic missile launchers and the number of modern missile complexes will increase steadily, the ministry said.

The rocket troops plan to carry out 200 drills in 2018, "almost the same" as in 2017, it said.

Every day, about 6,000 soldiers of the missile force are on combat duty. Enditem
