TEGUCIGALPA -- Supporters of the Honduran opposition again took to the streets of the capital Tegucigalpa on Friday to protest the outcome of recent presidential elections.

Protesters burnt tires, blocked roads and set fire to at least one military truck to reject the results of the Nov. 26 poll, which gave the incumbent President Juan Orlando Hernandez of the National Party, a slight advantage over rival Salvador Nasralla of the Opposition Alliance. WASHINGTON -- China's holdings of U.S. Treasury securities increased in October after a drop in September, the latest data from the U.S. Treasury Department showed on Friday.

China increased its U.S. treasuries holdings by 8.4 billion U.S. dollars in October, after cutting 19.7 billion dollars in September. By the end of October, China held 1.1892 trillion dollars of U.S. treasuries and remained the largest holder of the securities. (China-US-Treasury)

UNITED NATIONS -- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Friday expressed concern over risk of military confrontation on the Korean Peninsula and warned against any military action.

BRUSSELS -- Leaders of the 27 European Union (EU) members gathered here for the Winter EU Summit had approved the second phase of Brexit talks, European Council President Donald Tusk said Friday.

"The European Council welcomes the progress achieved during the first phase of negotiations as reflected in the Communication from the Commission and the Joint Report, and decides that it is sufficient to move to the second phase related to transition and the framework for the future relationship," said a Guidelines submitted by the General Secretariat of the Council to the leaders.
