Chinese shuttlers Liu/Zhang storm into semi-finals at BWF Dubai World Superseries

Xinhua,December 15, 2017 Adjust font size:

DUBAI, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- On day three of the men's doubles Group B, Liu Cheng and his teammate Zhang defeated here on Friday Danish opponents Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen in two straight sets 21-18, 21-13 to enter the semi-finals of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Superseries 2017 in Dubai's Hamdan Sports Complex.

Asked what made the fast victory possible (35 minutes), Liu told Xinhua "we already played against Boe/Mogensen several times and we prepared well for their style of shuttling." In fact, the Danes looked increasingly puzzled in the second set when they conceded scores of unexpected shuttlecocks from their opponents, and the number of unforced errors of the Danish pair increased.

The semi-finals of BWF Dubai World Superseries Finals are scheduled to take place on Saturday and the finals on Sunday. The top eight players in the men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles and mixed doubles are hoping to win the title of the event to mark the badminton season and win a share of the 1 million U.S. dollars prize money.
