KHARTOUM, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- Sudan's monthly inflation rate dropped to 24.76 percent in last November compared with 33.08 percent in October, said Sudan's Central Bureau of Statistics in its monthly report Thursday.
"The decline came despite the noticeable rise for the general price index," the report said.
It noted that the contribution of the 12 commodity and service groups in the annual inflation rate change varied, with food and beverages group contributing 70.47 percent, clothing and footwear group 8.08 percent, and housing, water, electricity and gas group 4.2 percent.
"The inflation percentage for the consumption and service commodities has declined to 28.98 percent from 31.53 percent in May," it said.
The Sudanese economy has been suffering from difficulties as a result of the secession of South Sudan, which caused the country to lose three quarters of its oil wealth, which caused the International Monetary Fund to urge Sudan to adopt emergency procedures to face the challenges. Enditem
