Mainland calls for more communication across Taiwan Strait

BEIJING, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese mainland would communicate with any political party, organization or individual who adheres to the one-China principle and the 1992 Consensus, and opposes "Taiwan independence," a spokesperson said Wednesday.
An Fengshan, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, made the remarks in response to an inquiry regarding the visits of delegations from Taiwan's New Party and Kuomintang (KMT) to the mainland.
An said that more communication and mutual trust between the Office and the New Party could push forward the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations and advance the process toward the peaceful reunification of the country.
The mainland has also had regular communication with the KMT, according to An.
Meanwhile, An pointed that the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) administration has always obstructed communication and cooperation across the Taiwan Strait, and stirred up opposition and hostility between people on both sides.
After 30 years of cross-Strait exchanges, communication, cooperation and development have been the common aspiration of people on both sides of the Strait and nothing can reverse this trend, said An.
More Taiwanese have realized the mainland's sincerity and view the mainland objectively. The mainland has provided opportunities rather than threats to Taiwan, according to An.
Peaceful development of cross-Strait relations has benefited people on both sides while "Taiwan independence" would do harm to the people, especially those in Taiwan, said An. Enditem
