Clashes break out in West Bank

Xinhua,December 13, 2017 Adjust font size:

RAMALLAH, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- Clashes broke out in several cities in the West Bank on Wednesday between Palestinians and Israeli forces.

The clashes broke out after dozens of youths demonstrated towards Israeli military checkpoints in Ramallah, Nablus, Bethlehem, Hebron and Tulkarem.

Sources and eyewitnesses in Ramallah said that Israeli soldiers threw tear gas bombs and opened gun fire and rubber coated bullets.

Medical sources reported at least 12 injured.

Sources said that Israeli undercover soldiers arrested four Palestinians, including one female, during the clashes at the northern entrance of Ramallah city.

Tensions have been escalating in Gaza and the West Bank between Israel and the Palestinians since U.S. President Donald Trump last week recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Six Palestinians were killed and more than 1,500 injured in the wave of tension that dominated the Palestinian territories after Trump's announcement. Enditem
