VIENNA, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- One person was killed and 21 were injured Tuesday in an explosion at a gas station in Baumgarten an der March, some 50 km east of Vienna, the capital of Austria, official sources said.

Fire brigades and rescue teams are at the scence, which has been largely closed to the public, Xinhua correspondent witnessed.

The blast occurred in the morning at a gas station of international energy company OMV, not far from the border with Slovakia. It set off a fire which could be seen from the Vienna side.

The fire is almost extinguished, and the explosion failed to trigger a larger explosion in the whole gas station, only part of the station was destroyed. Enditem
