MUMBAI, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Indian markets close lower Tuesday.

Equity benchmarks remained under pressure on profit booking after rallying 850 points in previous three consecutive sessions.

Investors await Federal Reserve policy meeting that will start on Tuesday night and the second phase of Gujarat assembly elections on Thursday.

The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex closed at 33,227.99, 227.80 points or 0.68 percent down compared to its previous close at 33,455.79. Enditem
