-- Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has shot down President Jacob Zuma's proposal that the losing candidate in the African National Congress' presidential race should, by default, become the deputy for the purpose of forging party unity.

The crucial leadership election is scheduled to kick off next week in Johannesburg, and the race to succeed Zuma is too close to call. (City Press)
