YANGON, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi has encouraged the country's young entrepreneurs to use cutting-edge technology for the development of the nation, while taking advantage of the country's unique location and abundant resources.

Aung San Suu Kyi made the remarks at the Myanmar Entrepreneurs Summit 2017 in Nay Pyi Taw on Saturday, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Sunday.

With the theme "Leading Entrepreneurs, Building Economy," the summit attracted about 1,000 young entrepreneurs from across the country to discuss policies and initiatives that would support the success of young entrepreneurs.

Aung San Suu Kyi reiterated the need to promote the intelligence and quality of the citizens and the role of the government in building a sustainable economy, urging regional governments to support entrepreneurs in their respective states and regions to establish small and medium enterprises and share their experiences with young entrepreneurs to carry out innovation.

She also invited suggestions from young entrepreneurs for the government's plan for creating a good investment environment in the country.

"Despite rich land, favorable weather and natural resources, Myanmar is facing challenges in penetrating the regional market as the country's crops do not meet the required quality due to lack of innovation," she said.

She urged the entrepreneurs to promote the quality of the country's products with innovation to export value-added products rather than raw materials.

Aung San Suu Kyi highlighted the"3 Ms" (money, market and mentorship) that she said would propel Myanmar's young entrepreneurs to compete at the regional and international level.

She also suggested that entrepreneurs who have achieved success in their businesses to build a mentorship network to seek advice from countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and to assist local young entrepreneurs.

At the summit, a number awards were presented to outstanding young entrepreneurs from across the country. Enditem
