RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's state-controlled oil and gas giant Petrobras reported on Thursday that it recovered another 654 million reals (198.8 million U.S. dollars) through Operation Car Wash, the country's biggest ever corruption probe.
According to the company, the money was received through cooperation agreements with individuals and legal entities within the scope of the Car Wash Operation, which investigates a large scheme of graft and embezzlement related to the company.
It was the largest sum of money returned to a company thanks to police investigation. With it, Petrobras has recovered 1.476 billion reals (450 million U.S. dollars) since the beginning of Operation Car Wash.
"The company, which is recognized by the authorities as a victim of the acts unraveled by the Operation, will continue to adopt legal measures against companies and individuals, including former employees and politicians, who have caused financial and image damage to the company," Petrobras said in a statement.
