RABAT, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Morocco said on Thursday that the parliament will hold a meeting to show solidarity with Palestinian people on Monday.
"The two houses of parliament will hold next Monday a plenary joint session in solidarity with the Palestinian people, following the dangerous latest developments regarding the situation in Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem)," the two houses said in a statement.
Hakim Benchamach, the speaker of the house of advisors, warned during an extraordinary meeting of the house against the decision of U.S. President Donald Trump to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
He called the decision "one of the most dangerous decisions" on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in the last decade.
Earlier in the day, Moroccan Prime Minister Saad Eddine El Othmani said the U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel has crossed the "red line."
The status quo of the holy city is "a red line that cannot be crossed," El Othmani said during the weekly cabinet meeting, adding that the U.S. decision goes "against resolutions of international legitimacy."
On the civil front, several non-government organizations have called for a massive demonstration on Sunday in the capital Rabat. Enditem
