Airstrikes kill 17 insurgents in E. Afghanistan

KABUL, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- At least 17 insurgents including six Islamic States (IS) fighters were killed and three others injured during the airstrikes conducted by Afghan air forces in Nangarhar province, east of Afghanistan on Wednesday, Afghan Defense Ministry said on Thursday.

"Air forces conducted air raids in Achin, Hisarak and Deh Bala districts of Nangarhar province on Wednesday, killing 17 armed militants including six IS fighters and injuring three others," the ministry statement said.

During the strikes, two hideouts of the insurgents were completely destroyed, the statement added.

Neither the Taliban nor IS militants have made comment on the report so far. Enditem
