Tokyo shares rally on bargain hunting

TOKYO, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares rallied Thursday morning as market players sought bargains following Nikkei's largest single-day fall within the year the previous day.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 280.70 points, or 1.27 percent, from Wednesday to 22,457.74.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 19.84 points, or 1.12 percent, to 1,785.26.

Gainers were led by electric appliance, construction, metal product and land transportation issues. Enditem
