Tokyo shares open higher on bargain hunting

TOKYO, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares opened higher early Thursday on market players' bargain-hunting following the fall the previous day.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 219.47 points, or 0.99 percent, from Wednesday to 22,396.51.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 16.51 points, or 0.94 percent, to 1,781.93.

Gainers were led by service, land transportation and metal product issues. Enditem
