Chicago agricultural commodities retreat in morning trading

Xinhua,December 07, 2017 Adjust font size:

CHICAGO, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) agricultural commodities opened slightly higher on Wednesday but slipped later to negative territory.

As of 1600 GMT, January soybeans went down nine cents to 9.995 U.S. dollars per bushel. March corn was down 1.75 cents to 3.52 dollars while March wheat down 7.50 cents to 4.2525 dollars per bushel.

CBOT soybeans saw a sharp decline, falling below 10 dollars per bushel level again, obviously due to profit-taking. Corn and wheat futures followed soybeans' downturn.

The soybeans had posted one percent gains during the previous session as a result of South American weather woes.

Dry weather in South America has become a major concern, with La Nina system being closely watched by traders. Enditem
