TRIPOLI, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- British Ambassador to Libya Peter Millett on Tuesday expressed Britain's desire to cooperate with Libya in the oil sector.
Millett made his remarks during a meeting with Mustafa Sanalla, chairman of Libya's state-owned National Oil Corporation (NOC) in the capital Tripoli.
"The meeting addressed prospects of mutual cooperation between the two countries in the oil industry and ways to develop and strengthen such cooperation," NOC said in a statement.
"Ambassador Millett also conveyed the wish of British companies to contribute to the projects of maintenance, raising production capacity and exchanging expertise. In addition, the British Ambassador invited the National Oil Corporation to hold a meeting between NOC subsidiaries and British companies working in the oil sector next year in Aberdeen, Scotland," the statement added.
Libya's oil sector has been suffering since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi's regime in 2011. Rival militias have closed down oil fields and ports in the country, causing a sharp drop in oil output. Enditem
