JALALABAD, Afghanistan, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Twenty-five Islamic States (IS) militants were killed in an airstrike in Nangarhar province, east of Afghanistan on Tuesday, the provincial government said on Wednesday.

"An airstrike targeted a hideout of IS militants in Mahmand Dara, an area in Achin district on Tuesday, killing 25 IS fighters," the provincial government said in a statement.

The strike also destroyed weapons and ammunition of the group in the province, 120 km east of Kabul, according to the statement.
