NEW DELHI -- The Cyclone Ockhi has killed 39 people in south Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala, and 167 fishermen are still missing, officials said Tuesday.

TOKYO -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.2 rocked Japan's central Nagano prefecture early Wednesday, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
The temblor, which occurred at 0:13 a.m. local time Wednesday (1513 GMT Tuesday), was centered in the central part of Nagano prefecture at a depth of 10 km. (Japan-Earthquake)

ISLAMABAD -- At least six people were killed and eight others wounded when a bomb went off in Pakistan's northwest tribal area of North Waziristan on Tuesday night, local Urdu media reported.

ISLAMABAD -- A Pakistani anti-drug minister said on Tuesday that the country is facing threats of narcotics and the government will tackle the drug menace with iron hand.
Minister for Narcotics Control Salahuddin Tirmizi said during a ceremony that the country's anti-drug agency is rendering extraordinary endeavors to counter drug trafficking at both national and international level.

JAKARTA -- Landslides and floods triggered by cyclone in Indian Ocean last week have left 41 people dead, 13 wounded, and thousands more displaced in Java island of Indonesia, an official of disaster agency said Tuesday.
