ISLAMABAD, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- At least six people were killed and eight others wounded when a bomb went off in Pakistan's northwest tribal area of North Waziristan on Tuesday night, local Urdu media reported.
The explosion hit a military vehicle carrying three aspiring candidates of Pakistani army, local ARY News said.
The vehicle was completely destroyed in the blast and all three people onboard were killed on the spot. Three other people who were passing by the targeted military vehicle in a rickshaw were also killed, while eight passersby were injured.
Local authorities said the blast was carried out by a remote controlled device and the explosives were fixed at a motorbike parked at the roadside.
The officials added that unknown militants blew up the explosives when the military vehicle passed by it in Miran Shah area, the headquarters of North Waziristan, located along Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
No group or person has claimed the attack yet.
The injured people have been shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The incident happened a few days after militants stormed a university in neighboring Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, killing nine people and injuring over 30 others. Enditem
