"House of cards" to resume production next year without Kevin Spacey

NEW YORK, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- The TV series "House of Cards" will resume production of its sixth season early next year without staring the actor Kevin Spacey, chief content officer for Netflix said here on Monday.

Season six and the final season of the political thriller will be eight episodes' long and will be starring Robin Wright, Ted Sarandos told the audience at UBS's annual global media and communications conference here.

"We are really excited that we are able to come to a good creative conclusion to the show," Sarandos added.

However, Sarandos did not say how Spacey's absence will be explained in the new season.

The U.S. entertainment company suspended the production of "House of Cards" in October following actor Anthony Rapp's allegation against Spacey, the show's leading actor for the first five seasons, of inappropriately touching him when he was 14 years old.

Spacey has said that he owed Rapp "the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior." Enditem
