VALLETTA, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Two brothers, Alfred and George Degorgio, were said to be the main suspects in the investigation into the assassination of Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, police sources said Monday.

Galizia was killed by a car bomb as she left her house in Bidnija, Malta on Oct. 16.

On Monday morning, ten Maltese men were apprehended in a raid involving the police, armed forces and intelligence services, according to authorities.

The Degorgio brothers were among those arrested and the prime suspects at this stage in the investigation, according to police sources.

Both brothers were previously known to police for involvement in cases of robbery and drug trafficking.

The two were arrested in a warehouse in Marsa, believed to be used by the criminal gang they were part of to plan criminal activity. Enditem
