KIGALI, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Rwanda on Monday launched a nationwide campaign for green growth to promote and share experience on green growth and climate resilient strategy.
The five-day Green Growth Week was unveiled during a high-level policy dialogue on the country's Green Growth and Climate Resilience Strategy in the Rwandan capital Kigali. It is in line with the progressive green policy-making around the globe.
The Rwanda's green growth week, set to conclude Friday, will review progress and advance aspirations in implementing the country's green growth and climate resilience strategy, according to the Rwandan ministry of environment.
Rwandan focuses on achieving green economy and this will be done through numerous campaigns geared towards promoting the green growth and climate resilience strategy across the country, said Rwandan minister of environment Vincent Biruta at the launch.
The week will provide a platform for policymakers, practitioners and partners from various sectors to contribute to Rwanda's green growth agenda, strengthen climate services, and promote awareness of green cities and buildings and their development, said the minister.
"The Rwanda's green growth week is timely given the work we have recently undertaken to develop sector strategic plans and the national strategy for transformation. We can only achieve these national development targets if green growth is at the heart of everything we do," he said.
The green growth week will feature the launch of the construction of Mageragere wastewater treatment plant in Mageragere sector, Nyarugenge district in the Kigali city suburbs, and two technical workshops -- one on establishing a national framework for climate services and the other on project development and financing for district officials, according to the Rwandan ministry of environment.
The week will conclude with a "green walk" in Kigali on Friday, according to organizers. Enditem
