KUWAIT CITY, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) said on Sunday it is seeking cooperation with the World Bank (WB) in the gas and power sectors.

A WB delegation visited the OAPEC headquarters in Kuwait City last week to discuss mainly the natural gas trade in the region and the Arab common market for electricity, said OAPEC Secretary General Abbas Naqi.

The delegation stressed the OAPEC's role as a dialogue platform, while highlighting as well the roles played by the WB and the Arab League in the Arab common market for electricity, Naqi noted.

More joint meetings are expected to be held with a view to turn relevant visions and ideas into tangible steps, he added.

The OAPEC comprises member states of Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Qatar, Syria, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates. Enditem
