Geisenberger claims her season's third World Cup race title

ALTENBERG, Germany, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- Natalie Geisenberger took gold as Germany secured a sweep of medals at home of the World Cup women's luge race on Sunday.

The 29-year-old finished with a total time of 1:44.241 to secure her third win of the season. Geisenberger's second heat of the two-run was a new track record as she slid across the line in a time of 52.036 seconds. Her compatriot Tatjana Huefner took second place and Dajana Eitberger was third.

The next stop on the World Cup schedule will be Calgary, Alberta, on Dec. 8-9, before the competition also heads to Lake Placid, New York on Dec. 15 and 16. Enditem
