CARACAS, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- The Venezuelan government and opposition wrapped up a round of dialogue Saturday without reaching a final agreement, but were willing to meet again for more talks, President of the Dominican Republic Danilo Medina said.
Medina, whose country is hosting the two sides, said that the two days of dialogue ended with no conclusion, other than a decision to meet on Dec. 15.
"On Dec. 15, we will hold a new meeting for talks, here in Santo Domingo, in order to reach a final agreement," Medina told reporters.
He said the two delegations made "significant" progress, as they have reaffirmed their willingness to move toward an agreement.
The two sides have been locked in a bitter power struggle since Maduro defeated the opposition party, the Democratic Unity Roundtable's presidential candidate by a scant margin in 2013.
The political deadlock has unleashed economic warfare and violent anti-government demonstrations that have claimed scores of lives. Enditem
