LUSAKA, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- The volume of Zambia's copper exports increased in October compared to the previous month, its statistics agency said on Thursday.
The volume of copper exports increased by 25.2 percent in October from 60,896.3 tons recorded in September to 76,250.3 tons in October, the Central Statistical Office (CSO) said.
The agency said the increase in copper exports resulted in the country's trade deficit reducing by 58.35 percent from 2,125.6 million Zambian Kwacha in September to 885.2 million Kwacha in October.
"The reduction in the deficit is mainly on account of a 25.2 percent increase in the volume of copper exported as copper account for the largest weight in the export profile," John Kalumbi, the agency's director told reporters during a monthly briefing. Enditem
