AMMAN, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Jordan and Britain on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding under which the latter will provide Jordan with 94.5 million British pounds (127.58 U.S. dollars ) to support the Arab kingdom's economy and education.

The deal was signed by Jordan's Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Imad Fakhoury and British Ambassador to Jordan Edward Oakden, in the presence of Prime Minister Hani Mulki and his visiting British counterpart Theresa May.

Fakhoury said the memorandum, as part of a future aid by Britain to Jordan in the next 10 years, seeks to establish a strategic partnership between the two countries.

Earlier, Mulki discussed with May the ways to cement bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Mulki commended the British support to Jordan in economic, military and political fields.

The British government plays a key role in enhancing Jordan's economic resilience through offering technical and vocational training for the Jordanian youth, he said.

The latest developments in the Middle East and anti-terrorism within a holistic approach were also on the agendas of the two leaders.

For her part, May said her visit to Jordan, the second in seven months, aims to advance ties between the two countries, expressing her country's readiness to provide necessary support to Jordan at various economic, developmental and educational levels. Enditem
