RIYADH, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- British Prime Minister Theresa May has arrived on Wednesday night in Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh for an official visit, the Saudi Press Agency has reported.

She was received by Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh region, at the King Salman air base.

King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud welcomed May at his palace and held talks in the presence of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

During the meeting, they reviewed ways of boosting bilateral relations between the two countries and discussed the recent development in the region.

The British prime minister arrived in Saudi after a surprise visit to Iraq as part of her Middle East tour, during which she met Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and applauded the progress in fighting the Islamic State (IS) group.

Saudi Arabia is Britain's largest trade partner in the region, as the two countries have signed arms deals worth billions of U.S. dollars since March 2015. Enditem
