Xinhua,November 30, 2017 Adjust font size:

WASHINGTON, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- As high as 71 percent of U.S. millennials say that a third major party is needed in the country since both the Republican and Democratic parties do a poor job, according to a new poll published Wednesday.

Sixty-three percent of American millennials disapprove of the way Donald Trump is handling his job as U.S. president, while 65 percent think the United States is on a wrong track overall, the NBC News/GenForward poll showed.

These youngsters hold a variety of U.S. political institutions in poor regard: six in ten disapprove of the way Congress is handling its job, while 59 percent have an unfavorable view of the Republican Party and 42 percent have an unfavorable view of the Democratic Party.

On the whole, a large majority of American millennials, across racial subgroups, genders and partisan affiliations, do not think either party cares about people like them.

The survey was conducted from Oct. 26 to Nov. 10, among a nationally representative sample of 1,876 American adults aged between 18 and 34. The overall margin of sampling error is 3.92 percentage points. Enditem
