RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian midfielder Lucas Lima has told Santos he will leave the club next month to join rivals Palmeiras.

Lima's contract with Santos ends in December but he has not played for the club since November 16 and will miss the team's final match of the Brazilian Serie A season against Avai on Sunday.

"Lucas Lima has advised us that he will play for Palmeiras," Santos president Modesto Roma told Brazilian news service Globoesporte.

"It was amicable. He thanked us for the four years that he spent here and I also thanked him and wished him luck. He leaves on good terms."

Lima, who has been capped 14 times for Brazil's national team, has reportedly signed a five-year contract with Palmeiras.

The 27-year-old was linked with several European clubs during the last summer transfer window, including Barcelona, Everton and Fenerbahce. Enditem
