1st LD Writethru: German train derails at main station in Swiss city of Basel

GENEVA, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- An intercity-express (ICE) train, operated by the German railway company Deutsche Bahn, derailed at the main station in northern Swiss city of Basel on Wednesday, the Swiss Railways SBB confirmed.

Initial reports said that there were no injuries from the incident.

SBB said on its website that train services at Basel station are suspended, and delays and cancellations are expected while duration of interruption remained unknown.

A mast and the overhead line were damaged, therefore the entire station was currently without electricity, German media Focus Online reported. Enditem
