BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Wednesday moved down 1.19 points, or 0.07 percent to close at 1,705.33 points.

Some 9.06 billion shares worth 61.88 billion baht (about 1.90 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands.

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed flat on a negative note Wednesday as investors await second quarter GDP data due Thursday.

November futures & options contracts expiry due on Thursday also caused volatility in the market.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Wednesday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,720.38 up 5.96 points or 0.35 percent, and the Emas was at 12,399.50 up 35.60 points or 0.29 percent.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) falling 0.1 percent or 3.36 points to close at 3438.99.

A total of 1.8 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.04 billion Singapore dollars (about 773.51 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 228 to 185.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed down 57.02 points, or 0.19 percent, to 29,623.83 points on Wednesday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 29,563.39 and 29,831.19. Turnover totaled 109.60 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 14.04 billion U.S. dollars).

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 113.95 points on Wednesday, up 2.45 points or 2.2 percent against the previous trading session.

Over 63.416 million shares worth some 868.271 billion Vietnamese dong (some 38.7 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Wednesday, an increase of 5.2 percent in volume and 13.8 percent in value against the previous trading session.

TOKYO -- Tokyo shares closed higher Wednesday tracking the advance in U.S. stock market overnight despite renewed geopolitical concerns following the latest ballistic missile launch of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended up 110.96 points, or 0.49 percent, from Tuesday at 22,597.20.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.46 percent lower on Wednesday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index decreased by 37.85 points to 8,254.03. The all-share index went down by 8.04 points, or 0.17 percent, to 4,846.63.
