Tokyo shares open higher tracking Wall Street gains

TOKYO, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares opened higher Wednesday on the gains on Wall Street overnight despite the launch of a ballistic missile earlier in the day by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 112.59 points, or 0.50 percent, from Tuesday to 22,598.83.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 11.53 points, or 0.65 percent, at 1,783.60.

Gainers were led by iron and steel, bank and insurance issues. Enditem
