Senior CPC official stresses strict Party governance at grassroots

Xinhua,September 05, 2017 Adjust font size:

Liu Yunshan, a senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official, has called for the extension of the Party's strict governance to the grassroots level.

Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during an inspection tour in northern China's Hebei Province from Sunday to Monday.

Liu visited Saihanba forest farm and a village in Chengde city, where he acknowledged the achievements of Hebei's economic and social development and Party building.

Saihanba is a vast forest covering nearly75,000 hectares. It was a piece of barren land55 years ago, but decades of hard work turned it into an important ecological shield for Beijing and Tianjin.

"Generations of workers have not only created the miracle of turning a barren land into a forest, but also a precious spiritual fortune, the Saihanba spirit, which should be learnt and carried forward," Liu said.

During his visit, Liu asked Party members to serve the public, solve difficulties, explore targeted poverty eradication and set an example to others.

In addition, Liu stressed efforts to integrate Party building at grassroots level with people's daily life and production as well as the country's reform, development and stability, urging Party members to achieve more ahead of the upcoming19th CPC national congress.
