Swedish GDP up 1.9 pct in second quarter of 2014

Sweden's gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 1.9 percent in the second quarter of 2014 compared to the same period in 2013, the Swedish Central Statistics Bureau (SCB) said Wednesday.
GDP growth was 0.2 percent when seasonally adjusted, compared to the first quarter of 2014, according to SCB.
In the second quarter of 2014, household consumption expenditure increased by 2.9 percent and general government consumption expenditure increased by 0.7 percent.
"Changes in inventories contributed 0.1 percentage points to GDP growth. Gross fixed capital formation increased by 2.1 percent. Exports grew by 1.7 percent and imports increased by 3.6 percent," SCB said in a statement.
It added that market production of goods and services increased 2.2 percent and goods-producing industries grew by 2.1 percent.
Sweden's GDP grew less than expected in the second quarter. The stock market fell after the unexpectedly weak GDP figures, according to the Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter.
