Turkey to help its citizens leave Gaza

Xinhua, July 12, 2014 Adjust font size:

Turkey said Saturday it will help its citizens leave the Gaza Strip as Israel shows no sign of ceasefire.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website that its diplomatic mission will assist citizens who want to leave Gaza as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Friday his country won't bow to international pressure to halt the offensive on the enclave.

The ministry asked Turkish nationals to contact the embassy in Tel Aviv or the consulate in Jerusalem if they want to leave Gaza.

There are 120 Turks in Gaza, some are working for non- governmental organizations and others are married to Palestinians.

Since the beginning of the operation, the Israeli army targeted about 1,090 sites in Gaza, bringing the death toll to over 100 people. Dozens of them were civilians, Palestinian officials told local media. Endi
