More Chinese Border Crossings to Be Established

China will make further efforts to establish border crossings and ports from now till the end of 2015, according to an official plan unveiled on Friday.

According to the plan released by the National Port Management Office, the country will build 39 new ports or border crossings and expand another 56 existing ones, which will provide more channels for foreign trade and international exchanges.

Zhao Fudi, deputy director of the office, said China will promote the further opening-up of relatively well-functioning ports or border crossings.

China currently has 284 open ports approved by the State Council, or the Cabinet, 146 of which are in coastal regions, 111 along borders and 27 inland.
